Year after year, the Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport of the University of Ljubljana has been intensifying its activities in the field of international cooperation, which today is a key feature of study and work processes at almost any institution. In addition, ever since Slovenia has joined the European Union and its citizens have become members of the ‘European family’, the Faculty has been aware that students should be given the opportunity to participate in various domestic and national programmes and projects allowing them to obtain knowledge, experience, and acquaintances they might become useful in their future personal growth and search for employment in Slovenia and abroad. Moreover, international exchange provides an excellent opportunity for improvement of the knowledge of foreign languages, which is a prerequisite for most jobs.

The Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport has over 30 cooperation agreements with foreign faculties, mostly from the European Union (Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Italy, Spain, France, Poland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Latvia etc.) but also cooperates with non-EU members, for instance Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Macedonia.

The Faculty cooperates in the following programmes: Erasmus, Tempus, and Norwegian Financial Mechanism (EEA).

The Faculty has been closely cooperating with the world known International Maritime Law Institute(IMO IMLI, http://www.imli.org) and Transport Malta (http://www.transport.gov.mt), participating in lecturing and organizing annual field trips for students.
